The University of Glasgow Medical Research Society is delighted to announce our 6th National Conference – taking place on the Saturday the 4th of November 2017 at the Sir Charles Wilson Building in Glasgow. As always, this conference is open to all and is ideal for students and junior doctors with a keen eye for research and evidence-based medicine.
This conference provides an excellent opportunity to learn about many aspects of research through the various talks and workshops as well as a chance to network with fellow students and doctors. It is also a prime opportunity for those interested in presenting original research of their own to a national audience.
We are glad to announce that registration is now open for the price of only £5 due to the generous donations from our sponsors. The link to register for the conference is here.
Lunch, as well as tea and coffee shall be provided at the conference for all delegates.
We welcome abstracts from all aspects of medicine and surgery. This will be a great opportunity to present any research, audits or reviews at a conference right on your door step. There have been some fantastic submissions over the years and we look forward to seeing the interesting topics put forward by the student body. The deadline for abstract submissions is Friday the 20th of October 2017.
The top four abstracts will be offered the chance to give a 10-minute oral presentation followed by 5 minutes for questions at the conference itself. The winner of the presentation will receive a prize of £200. All other accepted abstracts will be entered into our poster presentation competition for the chance to win £100.
Abstracts without figures should be submitted here – for abstracts with figures please e-mail directly to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note if your abstract is accepted, you must attend the conference.
If there are any queries regarding abstract submission feel free to contact the organising committee at email@example.com.
Following the success of previous years, the conference will be one-day long and consist of a variety of lectures from leading clinical academics. Confirmed speakers include:
- Professor Matthew Walters
- Professor John J V McMurray
- Doctor Carlos A Celis-Morales
- Doctor Angela Lucas-Herald
There will also be a series of three workshops covering topics from development of an academic CV to getting involved in changing practice.
GEMS wish to thank our sponsors, without whom our conference would be unable to happen. For a full list of sponsors, see here.
