How to Read a Paper

Well, it’s a new (academic) year, so lets dive head-first into our first workshop/journal club: How to Read a Paper. This will be held in Boyd Orr Lecture Theatre A, at 18:30 – 20:00 on the 18th October 2012.

It will be hosted by Patrick Collins  and Dr. Colin Geddes (Renal Consultant, Western Infirmary General Hospital). We will provide snacks and refreshments during the session.
This interactive session is not only useful in the upcoming 2nd year coursework on how to critically appraise a paper but will help you hone your critical appraisal skills needed throughout your medical career. Throughout the academic year, GEMS will host monthly workshops and journal club sessions about different subjects and specialty areas. 80% attendance over the course of the year will earn you a certificate of attendance for your CV. All our sessions are intended to supplement any learning you may have within the medical school undergraduate curriculum.
We hope to see you all there.
